Well, today is a banner day in the Phillips household. The postman hath brought the long awaited Snuggie. Yes, THAT Snuggie. The do-it-yourself druid-in-a-box kit arrived this morning and I'm sure my wife and sons will be fighting over them this evening.

We've posted this deal over at dealnews.com a few times in the past month, and I must say... it's a helluva deal. Two Snuggies and two booklights for $15.

Now if only Costco could speed up its shipping process.

Free bug spray FTW!

Every once in a while you run across a deal that you know is a price mistake. Such was the case a few weeks ago when Dan, dealnews' Chief Dealguy, told me about a deal he has just posted on some bug spray. It turns out that Avon via Amazon.com was offering its Skin So Soft Bug Guard Plus Picaridin Aerosol Spray for FREE with FREE SHIPPING! Deals don't get much better than that! In fact, other than "profit after rebate" deals (which are hassles in my opinion) it's the best deal I've been lucky enough to take advantage of in quite some time.

Of course, Dan and I both expected the orders to be canceled, but lo and behold they arrived! And let me tell ya, if you've ever been to Alabama in July you know that bug spray is one of two necessities... the other is air conditioning.

Zircon LaserBall 360 gets the job done

During a normal day of deal mining back in February of this year, one of the writers at dealnews stumbled upon the Zircon LaserBall 360 Laser Level for 21 cents at Polsteins Home & Beyond. 21 frickin' cents! Plus, it had 99-cent express shipping. I thought "At that price, who cares if it's junk?" and proceeded to place my order.

The LaserBall arrived in just a few days, and I was eager to try it out. But alas, we were in the process of buying a new home so my test run would have to wait. In the weeks following my purchase we closed on our new home. So that meant that after the move was complete everything on the walls from our old house had to be rehung in the new house. That's where this impulse buy really paid off. It saved me a lot time and kept my frustration levels to a minimum during my home decorating endeavor ... which was completed in a mere two days I might add. (Pretty good for a procrastinator such as myself.)

Let me tell ya, the LaserBall 360 may not be the best laser level on the planet, but this inexpensive little gem gets the job done ... and it looks cool to boot! For 21 cents plus shipping, I'm glad I took a chance on it.

The purpose of this blog isn't actually clear to me at this point, but I do know this... I'm writing about what interests me. That means you'll probably see a fair amount of gaming posts mixed in with a smattering of sweet deals my cohorts and I have managed to dig up over at dealnews.com.

Oh, and expect random diatribes related to encounters with various customer (dis)service departments ... I can't seem to avoid those situations.
